Our client, a large Engineering Consulting firm, is currently in need of a Design Safety Engineer to support the FEED stage of a large oilsands extraction project. Key Responsibilities: - Coordinate and liaise with third party consultants,
- Prepare specifications for safety related items,
- Review deliverables produced by other disciplines,
- Act as a focal point for all Design Safety issues,
- Closely coordinate with Client's HSE Manager for resolving design safety related issues,
- Participate in PHA reviews.
- Risk assessment and mitigation,
- Fire and gas detection,
- Passive and active fire protection,
- Plant layout review, and prepare safety philosophy/concept/plan
Core Skills: - BSc. in Engineering is preferred.
- 5 -10 years engineering experience in oil & gas or petrochemical industry with at least 3-5 years directly related to design safety and technical risk engineering.
- Must have strong oral and written communication skills.
- Must have knowledge of applicable international and national safety standards/legislation.
- Oil sand experience is considered an asset.
