Design Safety Engineer

Our client, a large Engineering Consulting firm, is currently in need of a Design Safety Engineer to support the FEED stage of a large oilsands extraction project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and liaise with third party consultants,
  • Prepare specifications for safety related items,
  • Review deliverables produced by other disciplines,
  • Act as a focal point for all Design Safety issues,
  • Closely coordinate with Client's HSE Manager for resolving design safety related issues,
  • Participate in PHA reviews.
  • Risk assessment and mitigation,
  • Fire and gas detection, 
  • Passive and active fire protection,  
  • Plant layout review, and  prepare safety philosophy/concept/plan

Core Skills:

  • BSc. in Engineering is preferred.
  • 5 -10 years engineering experience in oil & gas or petrochemical industry with at least 3-5 years directly related to design safety and technical risk engineering.
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have knowledge of applicable international and national safety standards/legislation.
  • Oil sand experience is considered an asset.
